Press Release:
The No. 1 food tour in Savannah is shaking up its Famous and Secret East Side Food Tour to feature new culinary delights in Savannah.
SAVANNAH, June 21, 2016—As Savannah’s culinary scene continues to explode, Savannah Taste Experience owners Stu and Donald Card realize that they must occasionally revamp their tours to feature new Savannah dining options. To keep up with the high demand of their 5-star rated Savannah-based food tours, they’ve also added a third tour spot on busy days.
“Our customers are always on the lookout for new and delicious flavors in Savannah,” says Stu Card. “We’ve created a unique dining experience here, but we also have to always be on the lookout to keep our tours fresh and as value-packed for our customers as we can.”
Their popular Famous and Secret East Side Tour is serving up three new stops: Smith Brothers Butcher Shop, Our Daily Bread Café and Mirabelle Café. Guests can now sample locally sourced sausages and dipping sauces made in house from Smith Brothers, enjoy Pimento cheese croissants at Our Daily Bread, and devour Mirabelle’s peach cobbler Belgian Liege Waffles. Longstanding partner 17Hundred90 Inn is also serving up a new dish: Green Tomato Chutney, a deconstructed fried green tomato, a Southern staple.
“Food is one of the leading sources for travel these days,” Donald says, “and Savannah’s rich history and culinary explosion make it a prime foodie destination. Our job is to paint the most current picture for our customers, while also delivering a diverse selection of cuisines that will leave them satisfied and full.”
That’s certainly true, considering The World Food Travel Association’s 2016 Food Travel Monitor just revealed, “Food and beverage are an increasingly significant motivator for travel, as 75% of leisure travelers have been motivated to visit a destination because of a culinary experience.”
About Savannah Taste ExperienceBrothers Stu and Donald Card both left successful careers to open Savannah Taste Experience, and they felt there was no better place to enjoy food, friends and family than Savannah, Georgia. They designed their First Squares Food Tour and Famous & Secret East Side Food Tour to show off Savannah’s best features—excellent food, beautiful architecture, storied history, and year-round warm climate. Each tour was designed to allow travelers to experience more restaurants in three hours than they could on their own in an entire weekend. Both food tours show off not only some of Savannah’s Southern cuisine but also an international mix of influences that help make Savannah a worthy culinary destination. For more information, visit their website at www.savannahtasteexperience.com and follow them on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram for discounts and updates. Guests are also encouraged to use #SavannahTaste to share their experience on any of these social sites.
About Smith Brothers Butcher ShopSince 1924, Smith Brothers has been serving up quality meats and provisions to the people of Savannah, GA. Harry and Leon Smith originally brought their beef from their farm in Claxton, Georgia to their stall in Old City Market. After a few downtown locations and a store on Skidaway Island, Robert and Brenda Anderson returned the butcher shop back downtown in the Historic District.
About Our Daily Bread Café Our Daily Bread offers made-from-scratch breakfasts and lunches, as well as homemade croissants and breads. Dee Gibson, also the owner of Famous Mabel’s Cupcake Emporium, teamed up with Josh Holland to make this café possible. The new eatery took the place of the original Famous Mabel’s, which moved into a location off of Ellis Square. The Cupcake Emporium is also featured on Savannah Taste’s First Squares food tour.
About Mirabelle Café Across the street from one of Savannah’s most iconic landmarks, The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Mirabelle Café dishes up the only Belgian Liege Waffle in The Hostess City. The café was inspired by boutique French and Italian inns/cafes, and is the brainchild of longtime Savannah residents Brett and Kim Turner. It also serves up quiches, salads, paninis and locally brewed coffee from Perc Coffee Roasters.
