The Funky Brunch’s griddle tables for make-your-own pancakes

When touring Savannah, it is easy to get swept up in the nostalgia and ambiance of the historic city. With all of its diverse culture and myriad of activities, you are sure to be kept busy and well entertained.

However, your Savannah vacation would not be complete without a proper brunch. So sit back, relax and soak up all that the city has to offer as we talk about some of the best places to have brunch in the city of Savannah.

Brunch in Savannah is definitely a thing. Locals will brave crowds to hit up our favorite brunch spots, and most of us wish that more dinner-only restaurants would consider adding brunch to their offerings. In fact, Savannah could easily add a number of restaurants to the list of places that serve brunch, and all of them would be busy (provided, of course, that the food and brunch cocktails are on point). And since 9 out of 10 people report eating brunch at least occasionally, there’s no sign that brunch’s popularity will slow down anytime soon–and certainly not in Savannah.

With that in mind, we want to share our favorite Savannah brunches. Many of these will also allow for pickup, which makes for a great picnic in one of our beautiful, shady squares located throughout historic downtown.

The Ordinary Pub, BEST FOR: Brunch any day

You can get brunch seven days a week at The Ordinary Pub, with weekday and weekend brunch menus available. Bottomless mimosas are only $10, and you don’t want to miss the pork belly donut sliders or chicken and waffle gyros.

B. Matthews, BEST FOR: Historic surroundings

B. Matthews has a brunch vibe 24/7. Maybe it’s the exposed brick, wood accents, intimate size, or prime location just outside of the main foot traffic areas (read: shorter wait!), there’s something about B. Matthews that invites a leisurely meal.

The Collins Quarter, BEST FOR: An Australian breakfast experience

This hotspot is currently Savannah’s brunch darling, with waits up to 2 hours during peak hours. While many brunch items are available all day, two specialty items are only served before 11am, the Gooday! breakfast sandwich and the must-try Leo’s Aussie Breakkie served with chorizo, bacon, eggs, sauteed mushrooms, baked beans and grilled tomato, plus Artisan bakery toast.

The Funky Brunch, BEST FOR: Make-Your-Own Pancakes

The Funky Brunch has several tables with built-in griddles that attracts families who want to have some fun with their food. A wide variety of add-ins like fruits, nuts, and candies make cooking up their tasty batter extra special. Parents, never fear–you’ll find plenty of adult liquids too.

Huey’s Southern Cafe, BEST FOR: River Street views and beignets

Huey’s menu is New Orleans-inspired, which means the best beignets in town, po boys, and crawfish etouffee. Or, just pretend its dinner and order the seafood platter or surf and turf!

Rocks on the River, BEST FOR: Benedicts

With 7 different Benedicts to choose from plus horseradish vodka Bloody Marys, Rocks on the River also boasts one of the best brunch views of the Savannah River. And we might be biased since their Shellfish Chowder is part of our First Squares Food Tour, but you should really order it for brunch (or anytime!), too.

Foxy Loxy Cafe, BEST FOR: An eclectic vibe…and Eye Openers

What’s an eye opener, you ask? Espresso paired with creamy Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro beer, of course! Foxy Loxy Cafe‘s short but flavorful menu includes breakfast tacos (tacos being their signature lunch and dinner dish too) and plenty of caffeine options, like cold brew, pourover and Tex Mex-inspired coffees.

Several other Savannah eateries serve their regular menu during weekend brunch too, such as SoHo South (best for a touch of glam), Goose Feathers: An Express Cafe and Bakery (best for to go), and Clary’s (best for Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil fans).

The Goose Feathers Café, BEST FOR: Breakfast all day; European bakery delights

What’s good for the goose is good for virtually everyone! The Goose Feathers Café is located on 39 Barnard Street in Savannah’s historic district. This European style bakery is open Monday through Friday from 7 am to 3 pm and Weekends 8 am to 3 pm. With a diverse and outstanding selection on their menu, you are sure to find something for every taste at the Goose Feathers Café.

Soho South Café, BEST FOR: Fried green tomatoes sandwiches, mac ‘n’ cheese

Soho South Café was named after the iconic New York City neighborhood and has become a favorite brunch spot for locals and tourists alike. Located in the historic district on Liberty Street, the atmosphere exudes a feeling of a New York City loft with an eclectic menu of delectable items to choose from. The fare is rustic and the decor is homey but spacious, with colorful mismatched chairs at every table.

Café M, BEST FOR: French pastries such as chocolate croissants; baguette sandwiches

For a bit of a variety in your brunch menu, try Café M located on East Bay Street. Café M offers a made to order menu that boasts French, American and healthy food options. The outdoor seating provides a gorgeous Parisian-style setting for you to relax and take in the local culture. The cherry on top: This restaurant offers bottomless mimosas, making it a must try for tourists and local alike.

The Good Times Jazz Bar & Restaurant, BEST FOR: Fried chicken and waffles!

The Good Times Jazz Bar & Restaurant offers a unique Sunday Brunch from 11 am – 3 pm. Located on W. Broughton Street in the historic district, this Jazz bar offers a unique experience with their brunch, providing a classic southern menu accompanied by some of the finest gospel musicians in the city.

There you have our list of our picks of the best places to brunch in Savannah! Any one of these choices will be sure to provide a relaxing and enjoyable food break that only enhances your Savannah vacation. And if you’re lucky enough to live here, you might just want to try them all!
