Where Should You Go to Get Peach Cobbler in Savannah, GA?
While peach cobbler is often closely associated with Georgia, Savannah has surprisingly few places that serve it regularly. This is our list of outstanding peach cobblers (and other peach desserts) in the Savannah area.
Crystal Beer Parlor is the oldest restaurant in Savannah. Their peach cobbler is an evergreen item on the dessert menu. Some would argue this isn’t a peach cobbler but more of a peach crisp or peach crumble.
While there is a toasted crumble on the top of the dessert, the gooey cobbler middle (and fresh scooped vanilla ice cream that’s served with) create a perfect cobbler flavor in one delicious bite. This locally loved dessert is served in its own individual dish and comes out piping hot.
Vic’s on the River is located on Bay Street above Factor’s Walk and has a gorgeous view of the Savannah River. The peach highlight on their dessert menu is the Peach Trio. While still not a traditional peach cobbler, this peachy dessert will satisfy any sweet tooth.
The Peach Trio features a New York style cheesecake with a peach coulis, peach bread pudding with a caramel glaze, and peach ice cream. All of them are mouthwateringly delicious.
If that doesn’t quite sound like what you want, they also have a Peach and Cream Praline Basket. Definition: poached peaches over vanilla ice cream in an edible praline basket with a bourbon crème anglaise.
Miss Sophie’s at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum in Pooler. This casual spot for Southern staples was recently revamped by the Big Bon crew. Their dessert menu features “seasonal cobblers,” so in the summer time there’s a good chance they’ll be featuring peach cobbler.
A favorite or locals and museum visitors alike, Miss Sophie’s is outside of Savannah proper but totally worth the drive. Make sure you plan your trip accordingly though. Their dining hours Tuesday- Saturday 11:00 – 2:00 p.m. Still have questions? You can Miss Sophie’s at 912-208-7404.
Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room is world-famous. This establishment is known for its family-style dining setup and rotating Southern comfort dishes. Get in line early and expect to sit with strangers (who are likely to be new friends by the end of the meal).
Peach cobbler is often featured as the dessert, although it’s not available every day. Mrs. Wilkes’ website usually features their daily menu, so check there before heading in to the entry que.
What about the Peach Cobbler Factory? Yes, it’s in the name… but this dessert spot near Broughton Street and Ellis Square is a chain and overall has lackluster reviews. Try it if you’d like, but we recommend going for the local restaurants instead!
