What to do in Savannah, Georgia in April

April in Savannah, Georgia is gorgeous. It’s the sweet spot in the year where the pollen has washed away (mostly), all the flowers are in bloom, and the weather is phenomenal. It’s no wonder couples from all over the world flock to The Hostess City to get married against her stunning spring backdrop.

Planning to come to Savannah in April?

There are many things to do during springtime in Savannah. Here are just a few of the endless options for entertainment, dining, and special celebrations.

Get Inspired by Florals! Every week in the spring brings a new round of gorgeous flowers in bloom. Whether it’s the vibrant azalea shrubs or huge magnolia bloom, florals musings can be spotted wherever the eye wanders.

Arranging flowers in the springtime is unmatched. Celebrate the arrival of spring at an Easter Fresh Flower Workshop hosted by Syd Nichole. Participants will make a stunning arrangement featuring a pussy willow egg topiary!

Guided by Syd Nichole’s expert floral team, you’ll learn floral design fundamentals while working with fresh flowers that feel airy, romantic, and full of life.

The workshop will focus on movement, balance, and texture—creating an arrangement that feels perfect for an Easter table, spring gathering, or a beautiful moment at home.

Celebrate National Beer Day! April 7th is National Beer Day, and Savannah has quite a few stellar breweries where you can celebrate.

First up, one of our partners, Service Brewing company. Walkable from Plant Riverside and downtown, Service Brewing is a veteran-owned operation with impeccable laidback vibes.

In the Starland District, you’ve choices. Hop Atomica is one of Savannah’s best brewpubs,  specializing in craft beer and wood-fired pizza in a cool mid-century modern atmosphere. With outdoor seating and regular pop-up events, Hop Atomica is a can’t-miss.

Down the street is Two Tides Brewing, another micro brewery worth a sip. With funky living-room vibes and rotating selections on tap, the small-batch beer-lover has to stop in for a pint. Cheers, y’all!

Forsyth Park on a Saturday. The historic district’s iconic Forsyth Park comes alive on the weekends. If the sun is shining, locals and visitors alike flock to this pristine garden park in the center of town.

The Forsyth Farmers Market happens at the south end of the park every Saturday from 9am – 1pm all year around. You can find everything from duck eggs and cut flowers to coffee and local honey at the beloved local market.

Closer to the north end of Forsyth Park (closer to the fountain) is a pop-up artists’ market that you’ll find in some form on most any nice day. If the weather is nice, you can bet that the Forsyth Artists are out.

Permitted to sell by the city, these entrepreneurs sell their creations directly to those in town visiting. This truly grassroots market organically opens around breakfast time and “closes” in the afternoon, though occasionally you’ll find artists in the park into the evening hours.

Sidewalk Art Festival This is part of the lore of SCAD. Held since the art school’s founding, the SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival is one of Savannah’s most vibrant and beloved spring traditions. The concrete paths of historic Forsyth Park transform into a massive, open-air gallery.

For over 40 years, students and alumni have gathered to compete in a high-stakes chalk art competition. Armed with boxes of pastels, hundreds of “Bees” (SCAD students) spend the day hunched over sidewalk squares, creating everything from photorealistic portraits and surreal dreamscapes to 3D illusions that look like they’re popping off the ground.

The art seems to stretch for miles, so make sure to have lunch plans set. After taking in all the artful beauty, a Savannah Taste Experience Food Tour will recharge you and your family for an afternoon of fun.

Local’s Favorite: Love good deals, cute dogs, and serious community?? Don’t miss the Renegade Paws Massive Yard Sale! This is a yard sale to raise money for the pups at the shelter. You’re sure to score some amazing treasures and all proceeds go directly to dogs in need!

Their parking lot will be full of kitchenware, home goods, clothing, workout gear, furniture, trinkets, sparkly things, and more! Details: April 25, 2026. 2357 Ogeechee Road, Savannah GA (Renegade Paws Shelter!)

What’s next in May? The Savannah Scottish Games is one of the South’s most enduring and spirited traditions! Held annually on the sprawling, moss-draped grounds of the Bethesda Academy, the Savannah Scottish Games offer a vibrant celebration of Celtic heritage that transports you straight to the Highlands.

Founded in 1976, the Savannah Scottish Games are among the oldest in the United States. They serve as a tribute to the Scottish Highlanders who helped settle Georgia in the 1730s. What started as a small gathering has grown into a premiere Southeast event, preserving the music, sport, and spirit of Scotland for generations of Georgians.
