Savannah Craft Brew Fest 4 Recovery Dinners

After a strenuous day sampling craft beers from 80+ breweries— including our local breweries Southbound Brewing, Service Brewing, Coastal Empire Beer Co., and Moon River Brewing—food (and plenty of water!) will likely be on your mind post-festival. To help, here are four restaurants known for their hearty portions that can soak up those suds and laid-back vibes so you can feel comfortable getting your grub on (even if you’re a little tipsy). Plus, if you take the free ferry across the river to and from downtown, these spots are all just a few blocks away so your recovery dinner can start pronto!

1. B&D Burgers

Sometimes only a burger will do, and the huge variety at B&Ds will satisfy any craving you might have post-beerfest. Go spicy with The Chippewa Square (habanero jack cheese + fresh jalepenos), smoky with The Whitefield Square (applewood smoked bacon, BBQ, and onion rings), or Southern with The Wormsloe (topped with housemade pimento cheese and a fried green tomato). Pair your burger with the fry of the week or seasoned curly fries and you’ll feel almost as good as new. Plus, they have 3 seating areas so finding a table shouldn’t be a problem.

2. Tondee’s Tavern

Tondee’s is another large restaurant downtown, with a big menu that will satisfy your whole crew. Choose from big seafood platters like Low Country Boil, or their fantastic shrimp & grits. Lots of fresh local seafood options might be the perfect meal for a belly full of beer, or if bread is what you need, their seafood, chicken, beef, or pork sandwiches might be just the ticket.

3. Tequila’s Town

Several of our friends swear by the magical powers of devouring Mexican food after daydrinking—maybe it’s the unlimited chips and salsa?—and Tequila’s Town has arguably the best Mexican food in Savannah. The table-side prepared guacamole is a must, and you’ll find many authentic options like tortas and sopes, or mix-and-match their 8 kinds of street-style tacos. Starving? The House Specials are touted as “generous servings.”

4. Dub’s Pub

Another spacious restaurant—the only one on this list that is right on River Street—Dub’s has big screen TVs, ping pong tables, and darts if you need some fun distractions to keep the rowdier folks in your party occupied. Start with either or both of their flatbreads, topped with BBQ chicken or Italian sausage, then dive into a hot pastrami, pork belly BLT, or smoked brisket sandwich that will satisfy any meat lover who craves protein post-boozing.

Be safe and have a blast at the 2016 Savannah Craft Brew Fest. Cheers!
