Although already a 5-star rated Savannah attraction, Savannah Taste Experience food tours stay on the lookout for new ways to showcase Savannah’s ever-growing and diversely delicious culinary scene. Their most recent addition is partnering with new restaurant, The Ordinary Pub, located on Broughton Street. This stop, as part of their First Squares food tour, features pork belly sliders, which are seared and then braised in Dr. Pepper overnight and are served with a dash of homemade raspberry-chipotle sauce and cilantro. The sliders are served alongside the Southern specialty Chow-Chow—a pickled relish—and a taste of Ordinary Pub’s key lime drops.

Other updates are also afoot at Savannah Taste. Due to explosive growth since opening three years ago, they now have 9 foodie-and-history buff tour guides on staff and have added more time slots 7 days a week. In fact, many days now offer at least four time slots at 11, 11:15, 11:30 and 11:45am. Groups can also book private tours any day of the week, with military groups, families, bachelorette parties, and business groups being frequent bookers.

The growth of Savannah Taste reflects a global trend in travel. Early this year, Skift—the largest industry intelligence and marketing platform in travel—recently released their 2015 report, “The Rise of Food Tourism.” In the report, Skift notes, “Food tourism tells the story of a destination’s history, culture, and people…driven by today’s intense social media activity around unique culinary experiences.”

Savannah Taste Experience certainly helps tell the story of Savannah through its two current tour offerings, First Squares and Famous & Secret East Side, with the possibility of more tours being added in 2016. The company has also been featured in several outlets in 2015, including Chatham County Living, The Chart Group, and Home and Away Magazine (type in zip code 73001 to read), which said, “The city’s culinary past and present come together on food-themed walking tours operated by Savannah Taste Experience.”

Other recent features can be found at TravelRoads.com and WaveJourney.com, which remarked, “[Our group] was in full agreement that it’s best, if possible, to take a tour early in your trip so as to get recommendations on where to eat the rest of our visit..” We couldn’t agree more.
